This is a very large, unusual and decorative metal wheel with gear teeth around the outer edge. It is painted red and has 14 holes through the body. Near each of the holes is painted a series of numbers. We think this may have been part of a counter mechanism of some sort. It came from a factory North Carolina. The entire wheel is almost 28” in diameter and was cut from heavy sheet steel. It is in good sturdy condition, although has obvious old rust on parts of the surface. This piece seems to have good age, and our guess places it from about the 1950’s or older. What it was actually used for, we really do not know; however, it certainly has an interesting and highly decorative look.
